A group of Lambeth Council workers are leading by example with a new urban food growing project being set up at their offices.
The volunteers are turning a grey, concrete area at the council's Shakespeare Road offices into an allotment site for growing fruit and vegetables.
They have limited themselves to using only recycled products that would otherwise have gone to landfill, such as tyres, cans and scaffold planks.
Pawel Ryczan, a Lambeth Council sustainable waste officer, said: "Everyone taking part will be helping out in their spare time. We are looking for new ways to encourage residents to reuse and recycle more."
