A group of expat Crystal Palace fans have come together to try and save the cash-strapped club.
The supporters, who all live abroad and cannot easily get to games, are calling themselves the Expat Eagles and are looking for donations so help sponsor tickets for children to go to matches.
Richard Charles, one of the men behind the idea who lives in Denmark, said: “People realised pretty quickly that chipping in to try and buy the club was a non-starter.
“But we thought about the idea of bringing in the next generation and that it would be a good way forward.
“Even though we as expats cannot be there in person, we can play a part in bringing in the next generation as the club needs all the supporters it can get right now.”
The first match the group is looking to sponsor tickets to is the home game with Preston North End on April 5.
It has already raised £460 in donations despite only going for two weeks and has seen people from all over the world get involved.
“It’s great to have that much already,” said Richard, who has supported Palace for 30 years but moved to Denmark seven years ago.
“Two weeks ago the idea was nothing and it’s come together pretty quickly. Every one has done something for it.
“There is a British web developer in the States who is a Palace fan and he has created the website with the help of a guy from Bradford.
“There’s a guy in Croydon, Martin Gourlay, who has been dealing with buying tickets and talking to the administrators.
“We are just a group of fans from around the world trying to do our bit for the club we love.”
