The artists behind Kingston town centre’s toilet gallery will celebrate the renaming of their road as Nipper Alley, in memory of the dog on HMV’s logo, with an exhibition that uses the famous canine as its starting point.
The council agreed to rename the strip of road beside the Kings Tun pub in December, because the dog was said to be buried under the nearby Lloyds bank.
The show will include a short film from a dog’s point of view, a recording studio where the public will be invited to record their own songs, stories and local folktales and animations made on an iPhone.
The official unveiling of the new Nipper Alley sign will take place at noon on Wednesday, March 10, while the exhibition will start a week earlier on Wednesday, March 3, at 6pm.
The exhibition will open Wednesday to Friday between 1pm and 6pm, between 10am and 6pm on Saturdays, and between noon and 6pm on Sunday until March 21.
