The time of year has come when thousands of students across the UK start the process of deciding their future. What they should do after completing their A levels? They are presented with three options: 1) Go to university 2) take a gap year or 3) Start working.
This decision is massive as it will have an impact on the rest of their lives; in order to help and support them , students from the Ursuline High School in Wimbledon were given a ‘higher education day’- a very useful and informative day exploring their possible options in a year’s time.
The day focused mainly on universities as this is where the vast majority of students want to go. Each individual was able to explore themselves- their personalities and interests- while receiving invaluable tips on how to write and structure personal statements. Talks from student ambassadors gave students an insight into the reality of student life while a financial expert dealt with possible financing strategies.
With over 300 universities in the UK alone and over 50,000 courses to choose from, students were overwhelmed with information and choices. However, the main message of the day from everyone was to choose a subject that you enjoy and just have fun as the university experience is said to be the best days of people’s lives. Young, free and with every opportunity available to them, students are about to embark on an adventure that they will never forget!
