Drivers were today warned of yet more disruption after engineers rushed to repair a third sewer collapse in two weeks.

Yesterday, Hounslow Council and Thames Water confirmed there would be ongoing problems in Fagg’s Road, Hatton, while workers tackle two collapsed sewers near to the junction with Green Man Lane.

The latest problem site emerged in Boston Manor Road at its junction with the A4. A spokeswoman for the council said a closure will be put in place at 9.30am on Monday, with the works taking an estimated two weeks to complete.

While a Thames Water crew fixes the problem, all southbound traffic is being forced to turn left onto the A4, make a u-turn via the “jug-handle”, and then use the left slip to turn left into Boston Manor Road, south of the A4.

She added that Transport for London will monitor the junctions and if necessary adjust the traffic signal timings where they can - but warned drivers to expect delays.

Advance warning signs have been put in place. Thames Water contractor, Cappagh, can be contacted on 020 8947 4000 if further problems emerge.

The Fagg’s Road repair works are expected to take up to 10 more days to excavate another shaft, carry out repairs and then re-open the road.

A spokeswoman for Thames Water said: “The reason it takes quite a long time is that there is quite a lot of ground water there and we have got to get around other [service pipes and shafts].”

She added that work was expected to be completed by Monday, March 8 - the carriageway was closed in both directions on February 11 and remains partially shut off.
