Three men have been prosecuted by Sutton Council after illegally dumping waste in various locations across the borough.
The trio, who appeared on different dates at Sutton Magistrates’ Court, amassed fines and court costs of over £1,000.
Buxton Clarke, a professional waste collector from Croydon, was prosecuted after his company collected waste that was later found dumped at Park Lane, Carshalton.
On February 17, the court ordered Mr Clarke to pay £450 in fines and £295 in costs.
Also over the last month, Maciej Bialas, of Vicarage Road, Sutton, and Hassan Khavari were each charged in separate cases for fly-tipping at local recycling centres.
Both were fined £80 and asked to pay £80 in costs along with a victim surcharge of £15.
Sean Brennan, council leader, said: “This series of prosecutions shows that we will not tolerate the irresponsible behaviour of thoughtless individuals who dump their rubbish.
“Those that choose to carelessly pollute our environment will be caught and prosecuted.”
Unsure as to where to dispose of your waste? While neighbourhood recycling centres provide facilities for domestic recycling, larger items and electrical appliances can be taken to the Kimpton Park Way Reuse and Recycle Centre.
