More than 100 teenagers participated in a two-on-two basketball tournament at Ernest Bevin College in Tooting last Thursday.
The new style of playing, which requires just two people in each team, was invented by local sports enthusiast Joseph Maye, who organised the event on behalf of the charity First Call Housing Foundation.
He held five events across London last week and the winners will battle a final at Battersea Sports Centre on April 5, Easter Bank Holiday Monday.
He said: “We wanted to think of something fresh that kids could engage in. We found it’s more intense, and the kids can express their skills. It gives people a chance to shine.”
The winning teams for the under 14s, under 16s, under 19s and girls categories were the West London Ballers, Showtime, Undisputed and HCC respectively.
