Autistic students got the chance to dress up in police hats and uniforms when officers paid their school a visit.
Pupils at Eagle House independent special school in Brighton Rd, Sutton were handed safety tips during the visit by Sutton’s Safer Transport Team.
More than 30 youngsters, aged 11-17, got to meet the officers, who went from class to class introducing themselves and giving the pupils some advice about using public transport.
The youngsters then got to try on police uniforms, including hats and helmets, and climb behind the wheel of a police car.
Eagle House Head Teacher Tom Coulter said: “The visit gave the students knowledge about how to go about keeping themselves safe and to ring 999 in emergency - and what to say and how to say it.
“For them it’s about learning about which people they can ask for help when they are out and about in the community.”
The visiting officers included PC Nav Bhachu and PCSOs Jeff Watson and Michaela Russell.
