A Government roadshow will be urging residents to consider a career in social care when it arrives in Croydon tomorrow.
The three-day recruitment event will provide advice on finding social care jobs in the borough, details on training and career opportunities, with ambassadors from Croydon on hand to explain their own experiences in the sector.
More than 40 per cent of people would consider a career in social care, according to research carried out for the Department of Health in January, but 37 per cent thought they lacked the right qualifications.
The event, which is being held at the Whitgift Centre, aims to address this misconception and raise understanding of how people can get involved in social care.
Care services minister Phil Hope said: “Social care is changing and more people are in need of support than ever before.
“It’s a really rewarding career with plenty of scope for training and progression and flexible working hours.
“I’d encourage anyone thinking about their career options to go along to the event and find out more.”
