Police are hunting three men who attacked and robbed two service station workers.

The robbery, on February 25, involved three black males who entered the Fernside Connect service station on Mitcham Road at 11.30pm.

One of the workers was grabbed from behind and told not to move while another robber jumped over the counter and demanded money from the second worker.

The robber has then taken £100 in cash from the till and jumped back over the counter, repeatedly punching the other worker in the head while pushing him into the back room and demanding that he open the safe.

The worker told the suspect he didn’t know how to open the safe before freeing himself and escaping via a fire exit where he then hid in a nearby garden and called police.

All three robbers ran from the scene towards Wingate Crescent where they are believed to have got into a waiting blue coloured vehicle before making off in an unknown direction.

The three suspects are described as black men aged 19-years-old and are are all believed to have been wearing dark coloured clothing and balaclavas.

Detective constable Ian Stone of Croydon CID said: "I am appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and who may have seen something suspicious.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the car described in the Wingate Crescent area at the time of the incident."
