A veggie patch received approval from high office during a recent visit.
Mayor of Epsom, Jan Mason, visited students and staff at Epsom and Ewell High School on February 22 to see the patch for herself after helping secure funding for the venture.
WIth the help of the mayor, tools have been bought for the patch, allowing the school to grow its own vegetables and become more eco-friendly.
Katy Jones, eco coordinator at the school, said: “We have lots of ideas which are all part of the eco school bid, including a more rigorous recycling scheme, a saving energy scheme and this “vege patch” project, which will hopefully expand to include wild areas and an outside classroom to improve biodiversity on site.”
The school will work with the Greener Schools Network in managing the patch.
