Julian Speroni: A couple of poor kicks but had very little else to do other than save a few easy shots. 7

Danny Butterfield: Restored at right back his passing was class throughout and provided a great cross that put Lee's goal on a plate for him. 8

Claude Davis: Was dominant at the back and kept the lively Ward very quiet. Needlessly booked as didn't have to get involved with Bartley and is now suspended for two games having reached 10 bookings. 7

Clint Hill: Looked back to his assured self at centre back and partnership with Davis looked solid. Had Cresswell in his pocket. 8

Nathaniel Clyne: Playing at left back certainly doesn't unnerve the youngster and he was very keen to get forward at every opportunity. 8

Shaun Derry: Had a good game in the middle of the park, breaking up play with ease and trying to pass the ball on the floor as much as possible. 7

Johnny Ertl: Recalled to the starting eleven by Hart he put in a good, if unspectacular, shift. 7

Nick Carle: Magnificent display and could flourish under Hart. He was central to everything good about Palace going forward and adds a bit of quality and spark missing from elsewhere in the side. Man of the match. 9

Darren Ambrose: Relatively quiet game and looked a little like he was missing Warnock. Fluffed a shot when through on goal in the second half and didn't threaten from free kicks. 7

Calvin Andrew: Given a start by Hart and was full of energy early on, giving Sheffield's defence all sort of problems. Should have done better when through in the first half and tired as the match went on. 7

Alan Lee: Another who could come to the fore under Hart. He is no longer having to go out wide every time Palace have a throw-in, meaning he can be in the box to score goals like the one he did on Saturday. 8

Subs:

Alassane N'Diaye (Andrew, 86): Gave away a couple of free kicks and booked for a reckless challenge. 5

Sean Scannell (Carle, 90): No time. 6

Lee Hills (Ambrose, 90): No time. 6
