London firefighters are reminding people smoking is the greatest cause of fatal fires in the capital, to coincide with national No Smoking Day.
Figures from the London Fire Brigade show smoking materials like cigarettes, matches and cigars cause around 40 per cent of fire deaths in homes.
A lit cigarette is thought to have been the cause of a blaze in Barcombe Avenue, Streatham Hill, on January 22 that killed 69-year-old Michael Kay.
