A man has been stabbed at a house nearby a block of flats where armed police are believed to have arrested a woman after a siege.
The man, in his 60s, was stabbed in the shoulder at a property in Hatch Gardens, Tadworth, and a woman was arrested shortly afterwards at Marbles Way, where the siege is believed to have taken place.
The siege is understood to have lasted 45 minutes, while it is believed Surrey Police officers tried to convince the woman, in her mid-30s, to give herself in.
A shop worker who witnessed the action said: “Police managed to take her away after three quarters of an hour. They had cordoned the road off while they were talking to her and there are still some officers over where the block of flats is.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Just after 2.30pm today Surrey Police was called to Hatch Gardens, Tadworth, following a report of violence against the person.
“A suspect was quickly identified and arrested in nearby Marbles Way.
"Hatch Gardens remains closed while forensic officers search the location.
"The suspect has been taken to Reigate Police Station and remains in custody.
“House-to-house enquiries have been carried out and detectives are appealing to anyone who was in Hatch Gardens, Tadworth, at around 2pm today to come forward.”
The 60-year-old has been taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
