We need to stop all this scrambling for news about Friday's deadline for bids for Crystal Palace.
I just hope there is some news to hear when we get there as one deadline extended I could dismiss as Brendan Guilfoyle giving potential suitors more time to finalise bids, but a second one would suggest that the reported torrent of interest was as accurate a statement as Blair's dodgy dossier.
Solvent clubs can keep their transfer window ‘silly season’ stories as there’s no finer time for audacious stories and rumours than when your club is in administration.
Already we’ve been linked with Steve Parish and his gang of insurance tycoon backers, Richard Branson and son, a myriad of mystery Americans and our old friends Ron Noades and Simon Jordan are still lurking in the background.
Now it’s all gone very Crystal Palace as only at Palace could you have the headline, ‘Convicted Italian fraudster keen to buy Crystal Palace’.
It’s never as simple as a nice businessman wanting to take the club forward quietly and efficiently here.
Then again, that’s what makes Palace special.
Is' always had colourful characters from Malcolm ‘Big Mal’ Allison and his Fedora to Simon Jordan and his David Dickinson tan.
On the upside. Massimo Cellino’s Italian team Cagliari play in red and blue and he has been linked with bringing Attilio Lombardo back to the club which would be nice to see - as long as he was a coach and steered clear of managing.
Another eleventh hour rumour circulating the terraces involves a fan, a hard nosed businessman and yes, a three-year plan.
Why do people insist on laying down these plans incidentally?
When was the last time a clubs x year plan ever come to fruition?
We never qualified for the champions League and Chelsea can’t break even.
Anyway, I digress.
This group have reportedly sent a former manager to visit the training ground to scope out the academy, let's just hope its not Neil Warnock.
Let's also hope they have done their sums because £15 million to fund the club for three years doesn’t seem nearly enough, even if they do intend to concentrate on bringing the youth players through.
Whatever Friday may bring though, whether it's any combination of the names above, the imperative thing for us fans at the moment is that something tangible actually happens because I for one am bored with rumour and uncertainty.
