The image of a British role model is in severe decline, a new report suggests.

In a poll of more than 1,000 people across the UK, conducted by online games site triviala.co.uk, 67% of people considered John Terry and Tiger Woods as perfect public figures before their recent alleged scandals.

Since the alleged incidents, 86% of Brits polled regarded them as terrible role models for young people.

Alongside the dip in respect for Woods and Terry, 76% of Brits polled felt that high profile divorces or separations represented bad examples of the morals of marriage and family values.

The poll also showed that 83% of people thought Reality TV stars shouldn't be considered celebrities.

Surprisingly, the recent expenses scandal did not have an effect on the opinion held of MPs, with 90% stating their already-poor perceptions of MPs being bad role models didn't change.

* But what do you think?

Is the UK short of good role models?

Do young people now look up to footballers and reality TV stars rather then more traditional guides, such as their parents?

Or have we always aspired to public figures like pop and TV stars?
