Numerous parks, libraries and several other sites will be managed by John Laing Integrated services after receiving the grant by the London Borough of Hounslow.
One of the many locations that will be worked on is the impending Isleworth ‘leisure hub’, which has been permitted approval to be built meaning leisure grounds and gyms, libraries, childcare programmes, social spaces and a café can now all be utilized under the same roof. The only other plan for a ‘leisure hub’ to be built is at Feltham Airparcs.
This means that there will be an expansion and maximization of not only Isleworth Recreation Centre, but Isleworth Library and Redlees Park also. An additional £2 million is said to be put forward this year, as well as the £5.2 million already implemented to be spent on the facilities throughout the borough.
A new entrance will be built to provide a connection with Isleworth Recreation Centre and the adjoining Isleworth Library. There will be a new footpath to provide pedestrian access to Redlees Park from the recreation centre which will benefit the local residents who are habitual users to the services in the neighbourhood.
Not to forget, a new coffee shop and crèche will be included after refurbishments. Another swimming supply store will be opened in the pool hall, in addition to the original shop at the entrance of the leisure centre.
The original glazed façade will be restored which will let natural light into the pool area and providing swimmers with views of Redlees Park. Changing facilities will be updated to cater better to those in families and groups and an improved and more modern gym will be constructed with a new exercise studio.
The changes for the Recreation Centre will commence from 30 March 2010 and the renovation process is said to occur over a period of 10 weeks, whereupon Isleworth Recreation Centre will be closed during this time. However, the date could be subject to change.
On top of this, further developments take place as well like new covered cycle racks which will be introduced by the new site.
