Two teenagers from Croydon have won second and third prizes in a photography competition.
Alex Campbell and Tiffany Crossland, both aged 18 won the prizes in the Young People’s Citizenship Through Photography competition organised by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS).
Alex’s entry No one left out was inspired by a government campaign to end rough sleeping and Tiffany’s CONTROL! explored the concept of surveillance in relation to community cohesion.
British political montage artist Peter Kennard was among the panel of judges who had to pick a winner from a 12-strong shortlist of entries from learners addressing the topic The Real Picture: Strong Communities or Broken Society?
The winners’ prize includes a masterclass in political photomontage with Peter Kennard, a personal guided tour of the Palace of Westminster and an opportunity to share their views on community cohesion with Dr Phyllis Starkey, chair of the communities and local government select committee.
