Mayday and Croydon Community Health Services are inviting patients to help improve patient care.

Patients will have the opportunity to meet nurses, doctors, managers and other healthcare staff and tell them about their real life experiences face to face in sessions called “In Your Shoes”.

Mayday’s Chief Executive Nick Hulme urged people who have had recent experiences of local healthcare to take part.

He said: “We are really keen to listen to the views of patients in Croydon, whether they were positive or where they feel there is room for improvement. This is a genuine opportunity to influence the future of patient care.”

The Trust wants to hear from a wide range of former patients, including those who have received care from a community health professional, or have had an outpatient appointment, test, surgery or stayed as an inpatient for any reason in the last 12 months.

The events will last about two hours and will involve around 20 patients and 20 staff, discussing experiences individually and in groups.

Travel costs, including parking, will be paid and refreshments provided.

The workshops are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday 23 March, 6.00pm – 8.30pm, May Fayre Restaurant, Mayday Hospital

Wednesday 24 March, 9.30am – 12.00pm, May Fayre Restaurant, Mayday Hospital

Monday 29 March, 6.00pm– 8.30pm, Fairfield Halls.

To get involved or for more information, patients should call 020 8401 3209 or e-mail inyourshoes@mayday.nhs.uk by Wednesday March 17.
