Talented dancer Amith Chowdhury is about to perform alongside Indian film legend Sharmila Tagore.
Amith who lives in Wimbledon and is an actor, dancer and film producer, will be performing with Sharmila and her film star daughter Soha Ali Khan at the P.C Chandra Ananda Utsav at Alexandra Palace in north London.
The three day festival which runs from this Friday, March 19, until Sunday, is the biggest Bengali cultural event ever staged in London.
Mr Chowdhury said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to work on this prestigious event showcasing some of Bengal’s finest artists. I have been privileged to perform with Sharmila Tagore and Ananda Da in 2007. I am very much looking forward to representing the UK Bengalis alongside Bengali’s finest.”
He is appearing in Rabi o Radha, a mixture of vibrant dance and spoken text which explores the relationship between the gods Krishna and Radha, but also that between Kolkata’s most famous poet, Rabindranath Tagore, and his sister in law. What makes it particularly special is that Sharmila is herself related to the Nobel Prize winning poet.
