Wandsworth’s Bengali community is getting together to help organise the largest celebration of their culture ever held in the UK.
Three organisations – Tooting Durga Puja, Probashi Cultural Organisation and South London Sarbojonin Durga Puja – are all involved in organising the PC Chandra Ananda Utsav, at Alexandra Palace from this Friday, until Sunday, March 21.
The three-day festival is a symbol of the growing confidence of wealthy Bengalis keen to celebrate their rich cultural heritage here in the UK.
A number of big names are being flown in from the sub continent to take part in the event, including India’s most famous magician PC Sorcar and film legend Sharmila Tagore and her film star daughter Soha Ali Khan.
