The advertising slogan “I Love New York” is among the most famous in the world, donned on t-shirts, jumpers and mugs.

So what chance does the “I Love Streatham” brand have in following in its iconic footsteps?

A Streatham blogger is hoping the odds are favourable, after launching dozens of products celebrating SW2 and SW16.

Their creator, the same anonymous blogger behind Streathampulse.com, said: “Who knows, they could get a cult following.

“Streatham has a bad reputation that is unwarranted, and this is a chance for people to show they are proud of where they are from.”

The clothing range features the classic “I Love Streatham” t-shirt, as well as designs invoking the Streatham Megabowl and more current affairs like the Save Streatham Ice Rink campaign.

Designs even feature on baby clothes, bibs, and boxer shorts.

Sam Hesketh, 28, of Valley Road, was one of the first residents to snap up a t-shirt.

He said: "I've lived here 27 of my 28 years and it's definitely a place I consider home.

“Streatham seems to get a fair amount of stick which I think it's really undeserved, we've got a cinema, ice rink, swimming pool, two parks and plenty of transport links, so when I saw the "I Love Streatham" t-shirts, I knew immediately I had to buy one.

"I love the idea of showing people where I'm from, just by looking at what's on my t-shirt."
