A popular fast food cafe chain has shed its unhealthy sounding name to make a push upmarket.
Fatboys cafes and sandwich bars have been a feature of Croydon for 25 years, but owner Sam Page decided rebranding to Simply Lunch would boost business as it moved into corporate catering.
The change has proved so successful Mr Page has been able to expand sandwich delivery into central London, and has invested in two new vans to make the trips to the capital.
He said: “To be honest what we are going into is catering - it was a great name for the cafes and sandwich bars, but it doesn’t really reflect what we do now.
“It was a big decision because Fatboys was a catchy name, and so many people knew us.
“But since we changed over at the start of the year we’ve been getting more and more work every week, so hopefully the decision has been the right one.”
The company, which is based out of the Capital Business Centre in South Croydon, has also branched out into working lunches and wholesale food sales throughout Croydon and London.
