A psychic who shot to fame after apparently contacting the spirit of John Lennon on a live US TV show is appearing at Epsom Playhouse next month.
Joe Power claims he will pass on messages to people in the audience from dead relatives and friends as well as making some embarrasing revelations - not something that is easy to understand or believe.
So we decided to have a chat with him to get him to explain what he does and how he does it.
So how does he get these messages which he claims come from beyond the grave?
“We all have an aura. It holds and stores information. It can be like a video recorder that I just need to tune into. Sometimes it’s images or thoughts but mainly it’s voices.” Added Mr Power.
Mr Power admitted that many are sceptical about his powers.
“It’s healthy to be sceptical and really there are only a few people really posses a gift. There is a lot of mis-use of mediumship out there, so people should be careful.”
But some have been so angered by what he does that they have even waited outside his house and threatened him.
Although mediumship has now been classified as entertainment, Mr Power claims the Met police have sought his advice on some murder and missing person cases.
And he thinks that the unique twist he gives his show in the second half sets him apart from other mediums. He said: “This tour is like no other medium tour in the UK. The first half is very serious and we do contact people who have passed away, but the second half is slightly different and we focus on the members of the audience.
“We do warn people that the second half can be quite embarrassing” The second half of the show will focuses on the members rather than relatives or loves ones who have passed away. The show can reveal anything from what the audience member had last night for dinner to a sordid affair they may be having.
So why would anyone want to come to this kind show that could potentially ruin relationships or friendships?
“We’ve done this because people are looking for something different and everyone loves a scandal. We are very careful with what we reveal and we do warn people before the second half starts what is about to happen and they are given the opportunity to leave” But Mr Power claims nobody on the tour so far has left half way through.
In Epsom the interest in mediums and the spirit world seems to be going from strength to strength with more psychics set to appear at the Playhouse this year.
Mr Power said: “The UK has the best mediums in the world.”
