Politicians have criticised the Mayor of London’s plans to cut funding for car club.
Car Club, which offers members an hourly rate to rent cars across the capital, has seeing its funding halved by the Mayor.
“Now is an ideal opportunity to expand,” said Jenny Jones, London Assembly Green Party Member. “I don’t understand why the Mayor seems to be pulling back on schemes which encourage people to volunteer to cut down on car use.”
She said the cut in car club funding was part of bigger cuts in the smarter travel budget which fell from £30 to £22m last year.
