Hounslow Wanderers and Copland meet on a wet and windy Saturday with Hounslow playing at home, looking to build from their victory the week before and Copland hoping to get back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats in the league.
The game started with both sides struggling to cope with the wet and faster playing conditions which meant clear cut chances were far and few between.
Copland drew first blood around the 20 minute mark as a result of some confusion between the linesman calling offside and the referee choosing to ignore his call.
Hounslow’s defence was not able to clear the ball from their box in time and quick reactions from Copland’s midfield players meant they were 1-0 up.
However Hounslow did not let their heads get down, on the contrary this setback inspired the players into raising their game and 15 minutes later some sharp one touch football from Hounslow’s centre midfielders Thomas John and Mike Wilkinson, put Ed Castro in front of the keeper in a one on one situation where the Brazilian did not disappoint, 1-1.
Building on this, Wanderers kept the momentum and increased their lead less then 5 minutes later on the stroke of half time. Mike Wilkinson pouncing on a cross to volley the ball into the top corner of the goal.
Copland seemed to be hit hard going into the half time break however came back stronger then ever in the second half.
Even when their centre forward received a red card Copland kept fighting and their resilience was rewarded when a fine run from their number 10 meant they equalised with 10 minutes to go.
Not content with this Copland continued to take advantage of a Hounslow Wanderers side visibly shocked by Copland’s comeback in a game which they were once dominating.
Five minutes later on the verge of full time Copland’s Number 10 banged in a scrappy goal to seal the tie at 3-2 to the away team.
