JOIN IN OUR LITTERPICK ON CANNON HILL COMMON
Cannon Hill Common is designated a local Nature Reserve and in order to make it neat and tidy for the Easter holidays the Friends of Cannon Hill Common are organising a Litterpick on the Common on Saturday 27th March at 10.a.m. Previous litterpicks have resulted in large piles of plastic bags full of rubbish for the Council to collect and last year our efforts were even publicised in the Wimbledon Guardian as one of their photographers arrived to take photos! (see photo – this is one we took ourselves!).
It is amazing how much rubbish can be collected in just a couple of hours. Anyone can join in – last year a number of children make a great contribution to the activity – though we do ask that children should be accompanied by an adult. It is an excellent way to get some fresh air and to play a part in keeping the Common looking nice.
Plastic bags and litterpickers are borrowed from the Council and gloves can be provided – though if you have your own please bring them. We also provide some refreshments to keep everyone going. If you are interested just turn up by the turning circle in the centre of the Common (where the old pavilion used to be) at 10 a.m. on Saturday 27th and join in the fun.
