Sutton Schools U11s were pipped 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out by Lewisham in Saturday’s Gills Shield quarter-final.
Two chances for Lewisham saw Sutton keeper Robert Feeley in inspired form and it was the home team who struck first, Cameron Steele’s cross flying in off the far post.
Lewisham pushed forward in the second half, but were met by resilient defence until a soft goal brought them level.
Extra-time could not split the sides, but Lewisham were clinical from the spot to book their place in the semi-finals.
Noah Vezzu was oustanding in midfield for Sutton, but Feeley was South West Trains player-of-the-match for a series of outstanding saves.
