British Transport Police (BTP) have issued five pictures of suspects wanted in connection with crimes committed on public transport.

Their offences include the suspected theft of up to £20,000 and a violent assault on a tram at Therapia Lane.

Police would like to speak to a man and a woman (pictures 1 and 2) after a nurse had £10,000 stolen from her during a train journey between Thornton Heath and Victoria station in September 2009.

Detectives would also like to identify the pair in connection with a similar offence in Thornton Heath in November 2009, where an elderly man also had £10,000 taken from him.

Another pair of CCTV images show two women police are seeking in connection with a brutal attack which left the victim with a cut lip and clumps of her hair missing.

The assault occurred during a row about a seat on board a tram on Christmas Eve.

One of the women left her small child unaccompanied in order to carry out the unprovoked attack, A passenger was left needing stitches at Selhurst station in July last year after a man attacked him with shards from a broken pint glass. Investigators want to question the suited man pictured in the CCTV image in connection with the incident.

Detective sergeant Bob Stokoe said: “Officers investigating each case have made local enquiries and circulated the images on police intelligence systems but to no avail so far.

“I am now asking for the public’s help to identify these five people. If you know them, or think you might have any information that could assist our investigations then we would like to hear from you.

“I am certain that someone will recognise the people pictured in the CCTV images and am calling on anyone who does, or the people themselves, to get in touch.”
