Fundraisers have discovered their inner athlete in a bid to raise cash for Sport Relief - with two supermarket workers going more than the extra mile to back the good cause.
The charity celebration, which took place last week to raise cash for projects in Britain and abroad, saw residents across Merton dig out their trainers and hit the streets to run a mile.
Staff at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Morden joined the company’s CEO, Justin King, to tackle a dash around Morden Hall Park on Saturday.
But they were outdone by two colleagues at the chain’s Colliers Wood branch - Julie Whiting and Dave Atkinson ran from their store to the chain’s headquarters in Holborn and back in a single day.
About 25 staff from Wimbledon company Deltatre tackled a mile run starting outside their offices on Palmerston Road.
Speaking ahead of the race, event operations manager George Hawes said: “We are a sports media services company, so our staff have a varying level of athletic ability which could prove to be quite interesting.”
The business eventually raised £554.
