London Mayor's green funding criticised
Politicians have criticised the Mayor of London’s plans to cut funding for car clubs.
Car clubs, which offermembers an hourly rate to rent cars across the capital, are seeing its funding halved by the Mayor.
Jenny Jones, London Assembly Green Party member, said: “Now is an ideal opportunity to expand.
"I don’t understand why the Mayor seems to be pulling back on schemes that encourage people to volunteer to cut down on car use.”
She said the cut in car club funding was part of bigger cuts in the smarter travel budget, which fell from £30 to £22m last year.
