More than 200 people were given a helping hand finding a job or starting a business during the recent Jobs+ Fair at Croydon’s Fairfield Halls.

Three housing associations teamed up with Croydon Black and Minority Ethnic Forum to put on the event, which focused on growing industries such as social enterprise and green business.

Motivational speakers included Murad Qureshi from the London Assembly and Claudine Reid, director of PJ’s customer services.

Housing association tenant Annette Blake, who attended the event, said: “It’s excellent that residents are able to attend events such as this, to help find out about job opportunities and starting businesses.

“I got a lot out of attending today.”

Steve Walker, chief executive of the AmicusHorizon housing association, said: “It’s great to see housing associations working together and pooling resources to find solutions to worklessness and business enterprise.”
