A Croydon hairdresser forced to give up her job after breaking her back has recovered enough to scoop a top award.
Claire Charman wowed judges with a look inspired by 80s pop star Cyndi Lauper, winning the best creative image category at the Sean Hanna Awards, on March 15.
The stylist spent ten years working her way up to become manager of the Croydon branch of Sean Hanna, before breaking her back in two places in 2006.
But the plucky hairdresser is fighting through the pain to come back to the salon on a part time basis.
She said: “I’m so honoured to achieve this award.
“For me it’s a huge achievement, especially after leaving my beloved job due to an injured back.
“I’m determined to strive in my career as a hairdresser and am looking forward to reacquainting with my old clients and meeting new faces.
“Winning this proves you can do anything, even in times of adversity.”
