A business advice service has signed a pledge with Croydon Council outlining how the two groups will help Croydon recover from the recession.
The pledge between Business Link in London and the council recognises the vital role played in the economy by small and medium sized businesses.
Both organisations warned that although the recession is technically over, firms still needs support to make 2010 a success.
Croydon Council chief executive Jon Rouse said: “Local businesses need advice and guidance now more than ever.
“Although it would appear we are coming out of a recession, it’s still a difficult time for many small businesses.
“We will work closely with Business Link in London and other partners to ensure the support they need is available to achieve success and stability in 2010.”
Patrick Elliott, Business Link in London chief executive, said: “The recession has proved difficult for many of Croydon’s small and medium sized businesses.
“Despite the first glimpse of recovery, businesses in the area still need advice and guidance in order to build a strong and successful future.”
