A man has appeared in court charged with the ‘honour’ killing of a Mitcham woman whose decomposed body was found in a suitcase.
Banaz Mahmod, 20, disappeared from her Morden Road family home in January 2006. Her body was discovered in Handsworth, Birmingham, three months later.
Omar Hussain, 30, of Messenger Road, Birmingham, appeared before Greenwich Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with her murder.
He then appeared before the Old Bailey on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until June 25.
He is also accused of the attempted kidnap of Rahmat Suleimani, Miss Mahmod's boyfriend, and with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Miss Mahmod's father, Mahmod Mahmod, 52, of Morden Road, her uncle Ari Mahmod, 50, of Sandy Lane, Mitcham and a third man were jailed for life in 2007 for the killing.
