From community correspondent Steve Wicks: Lesley Ellery, a Guider from Sanderstead was honoured at a Reception at City Hall for her 30years service in Guiding. Lesley also received the Laurel Award one of the highest Awards Guiding can bestow. Her husband was present to see her receive the award which meant he no longer had to keep the secret.

12 Guiders and Senior Section members from Croydon Guiding were part of a group of 170 members invited to a reception at City Hall to celebrate the Girlguiding Centenary. They could all see the surprise on Lesley's face as she was presented the award by Darren Johnson, Chair of the London Assembly who hosted the evening alongside London and South East England Region Guide Commissioner Anne Hudson.

Girlguiding UK has a wish during its Centenary Year, that every member from the youngest Rainbow to the oldest Trefoil member has a Mountain Top Moment - well 170 including Lesley certainly did from the London living room at the top of City Hall.
