Four teenagers from Chessington and Surbiton have denied being part of a racist attack in Tolworth.
The two girls and two boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty at Kingston Youth Court on Wednesday, March 22, to affray after an alleged incident with a middle-eastern man at Tesco Express in Tolworth Broadway on January 23.
One of the girls, a 16-year-old from Chessington, denied an allegation she used racially aggravated abusive behaviour towards the man.
Defending three of the young defendants, Ovais Kadri said the teenagers admitted being present during the incident, where they were arrested by police, but denied committing assault.
All the children were told by Kingston magistrate Rabbi Danny Rich that they should not enter the same Tesco Express until they had come back to court for a trial.
They will reappear at the youth court for the trial on June 1.
