Three men have been charged with the murder of Ezra Mills who was gunned down on the Croydon/Lambeth border.
Mr Mills, 22, died on Sunday after being shot hours after celebrating his birthday with his family.
He was gunned down in Oakwood Drive, that runs through the Central Hill estate in Gipsy Hill.
A gang of between five and eight black, hooded youths, were seen by residents running from the estate moments after the shooting.
Police are keen to know why Mr Mills, who is not known by police to have links to any gang, was on the estate that night.
Marcell Carl Mason, 20, of Alexandra Drive, SE19, Dwayne Lock, 20, of Wychwood Way, SE19, and Trevelle Williams, 18, of Charters Close, SE19 are due to appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 27 March.
They are charged with the murder of Ezra Mills on 21 March and with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Six people were arrested on Monday in connection with the shooting.
Five were released without charge, but a 22-year-old man was bailed pending further police enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Hutchison from Trident said : "We believe that Ezra may have friends on the estate and that may be the reason he was there on Sunday night.
"I am appealing to anyone with information to contact the police on 020 8247 4553 or if you do not wish to give your name call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111".
