A motorcyclist from Croydon has been killed in a road accident near Betchworth this afternoon.
Police officers are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision on the A25 Reigate Road at Betchworth this afternoon.
At about 2.50pm a white transit van and a blue and white motorbike were in collision and the rider of the motorbike sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
The vehicles were believed to be travelling east, towards Reigate at the time.
The dead rider is believed to be a 44-year-old man from the Croydon area.
Police are seeking witnesses, both to the collision, and to the manner of driving and riding of the vehicles involved prior to the collision.
Another motorcyclist who stopped at the scene was travelling in company with the dead man.
The road was closed for investigation of the circumstances of the collision.
