John Crumplin is refusing to write off Walton & Hersham’s Ryman Division One South play-off hopes despite seeing the Swans stretch their winless streak to five games at the weekend.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at mid-table Ramsgate leaves Crumplin’s men in eighth spot, having played more games than any of their top-five rivals.

But the Walton boss is not prepared to throw in the towel just yet.

Crumplin said: “I am not giving up on the play-offs but we are certainly going to have to do it the hard way.

“We have six games left and we pretty much have to win all of them.

“I still think it is in our hands because we have Folkestone and Godalming still to play.

“We have to go out there and scrap and fight for everything and if we can win our two Easter games everything will seem a lot different.”

Adam Broomhead’s strike was all the Swans had for their efforts at Ramsgate.

And Crumplin bemoaned yet another toothless display.

He added: “It is not a case of not taking chances, it is more a case of that final pass.

“We never seem to have that killer edge.

“We do not seem to be able to put teams away and that is hurting us.”

Walton face title hopefuls Folkestone at Stompond Lane on Saturday before traveling to Godalming on Monday.

And Crumplin reckons the return of a host of first team regulars is cause for optimism.

He added: “We have been missing seven first-team players through injury and suspension recently but they have all gradually come back.

“Now I have a full squad to choose from and we can really give it a go.

“No pressure on the team but we need to start winning games!

“I need them to click again, and click quickly.”
