Up to 25 children, toddlers and a swimming instructor were evacuated from a Kingston health club’s swimming pool after a suspected chlorine overdose.
The pool at Esporta health club, based in Richmond Road above Sainsbury's, was closed on Friday after a swimming lesson was abandoned when children complained the water was burning their eyes.
A female instructor had to be treated at a hospital after the incident.
A member of Esporta’s staff confirmed that the incident happened on Friday, but would not give out any further details.
One parent, who did not want to be named, said: "Our child has been up all night vomiting, but the club has not contacted us about the pool being over-chlorinated."
