Leatherhead followed up their Championship Manager Cup triumph in midweek with an emphatic 6-1 win against Ryman League Division One South strugglers Dulwich Hamlet.

Three goals in the opening 23 minutes meant the game was as good as won as the Tanners extended their unbeaten run to10 games.

Leatherhead boss Mick Sullivan made one change to his starting line-up with Kev Terry coming in for Jack MacLeod.

The home side went ahead after five minutes when a corner from Rob Hill was cleared only as far as Greg Andrews on the edge of the box. The young sharp shooter struck the ball through a crowd of players to deceive Phil Wilson in the Dulwich goal.

Five minutes later Wilson was guilty of straying too far out of his goal, as the Tanners doubled their lead. Mark Simmons spotted Wilson off his line and floated a cross to Hill who cleverly lobbed the keeper from 25 yards.

Leatherhead's dominance paid dividends again in the 23rd minute when Hill had his shirt tugged in the Dulwich box in front of the referee, who showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Tommy Hutchings calmly stepped forward and struck a fierce penalty down the middle past Wilson.

It was only at this stage that Dulwich responded playing some attractive, passing football. Their efforts nearly paid off when Frankie Sawyer forced a good save from Leatherhead keeper Colin Harris and moments later a shot from Roy Odiaka whistled inches past the post.

Leatherhead always looked dangerous on the break and the lively Hutchings won the ball wide on the left and, seeing Kev Terry in space on the opposite flank, split the Dulwich defence with a wide ball to the right. Terry controlled the ball effortlessly before hitting a firm shot that was well blocked by Wilson.

Hamlet's Kalvin Morath-Gibbs had a goal-bound effort turned away for a corner by Harris before Leatherhead effectively killed off the game with a fourth goal two minutes before half time.

Elliott Thompson broke away from his marker in the middle of the park and sprinted towards the Dulwich goal. As he entered the box the striker selflessly squared the ball to Hutchings who scored from twelve yards.

Following the half-time interval Leatherhead nearly added a fifth within seconds of the restart as Hill was put through but he somehow contrived to shoot wide.

The weather rapidly deteriorated, and with heavy rain showers making playing conditions almost impossible , there were no further goals until the 85th minute. Dulwich finally opened their account as the Tanners failed to clear away in defence and Odiaka hit a well struck shot past Harris.

Leatherhead restored their four goal advantage a minute later when Andrews broke clear down the right and found Michael Corbett in the box to score his first goal for Leatherhead.

The Tanners added a sixth goal in stoppage time in bizarre circumstances. A long throw from Corbett beat a defender and Simmons got the slightest of touches to nod the ball over the line at the near post.

Sullivan had instructed his team to put Wednesday's cup success behind them and focus their attention on beating Dulwich. They didn't let him down.
