A fashion designer who is Michelle Obama and Sarah Brown’s favourite is due to give a guest lecture at an university.
London-based Erdem Moralioglu is set attend Epsom's University for the Creative Arts (UCA) on April 28 to tell students how he is taking over the fashion world.
Erdem's distinctive style has made him famous with Hollywood stars such as Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst and Gwyneth Paltrow.
BA (Hons) Fashion Lecturer, Ezinma Mbonu said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to hear from a designer who is at the top of his game.
“The students are very excited about his visit especially as many of them got to see his work up close during a fashion show at the Victoria and Albert museum in December.”
Associate Dean, Calum Mackenzie, said: “It is a strong feature of studying at Epsom that students get this kind of contact that will be of interest to as many of our courses as possible, for example, we will have a BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism student leading the discussion with Erdem.”
Erdem was raised in Canada by his Turkish father and English mother and fell in love with fashion after an internship with Vivienne Westwood.
After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London, he worked for Diane von Furstenberg in New York.
He launched his own label, Erdem, in 2005, which won the Fashion Fringe award. The £100,000 prize enabled him to develop his talents into a real business.
