Crystal Palace thumped Watford 3-1 at Vicarage Road to keep the survival hopes alive.
Stern John, Sean Scannell and Neil Danns scored the goals though the Eagles, who had Lee Hills sent off late on, can count themselves lucky having been dominated by the home side in the first half.
The Hornets hit the woodwork through Tom Cleverley and Henri Lansbury and Julian Speroni twice saved from Will Buckley.
Palace's only shot on target resulted in their goal when John headed home Johnny Ertl's deep cross.
Palace were rejuvented after the break and Scannell extended the lead after 51 minutes, slotting in the rebound after his header hit the post.
Scannell then set up the third as Scott Loach parried his shot straight at Danns to score.
Cleverley hit the post again before Danny Graham ensured a nervy ending by thumping in a consolation.
Hills was dismissed three minutes from the end for his second booking after tripping Will Buckley.
The win lifts Palace to within a point of safety.
