Around 150 children aged 4-16 staged an epic production to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Coulsdon and Caterham Stagecoach Schools on Saturday 20th March. They performed excerpts from the schools' productions spanning the last 10 years, many of which were written by Principal Elaine Short.
The show took place at De Stafford High School and was attended by more than 200 audience members! A great night was had by all and the students did what they do best - put on an amazing show!
The show was also an emotional farewell to the schools' existing Principal, Elaine Short, who has run the schools for the last decade. Elaine was presented with flowers, a gift and a card signed by all the students and teachers. Elaine will be missed by all but it was also an opportunity for her to introduce new Principal - Zoe McCready. Zoe is no stranger to the schools though, as she has taught dance and drama at Stagecoach Coulsdon for the last 8 years and was one of the original teachers of the Friday night school, along with Elaine's son and daughter Phil and Amanda. Elaine's legacy will live on as Amanda continues her role as Drama teacher on Friday nights.
Zoe is a professional performer who has appeared in Barry Manilow's Copacabana and Disney's Beauty and the Beast in London's West End, National Tours, Pantomimes, Summer Season's and on-board Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. TV appearances include Bad Girls and Byker Grove, along with several short films. Zoe was a regular presenter on BBC Southern Counties Radio and now appears as a guest Presenter on the shopping channel QVC.
Stagecoach is the largest part-time theatre school in the UK running weekend classes and Holiday Workshops. Stagecoach Coulsdon has classes at Woodcote High School on Friday Evenings and Saturday mornings while Caterham runs a Saturday Afternoon school at De Stafford.
