A man accused of murdering his stepfather faces a retrial after the jury in his trial were unable to reach a verdict.

Rachid Riahi, 30, was accused of stabbing to death Kevin Francis, 49, at their home in Hurtwood Road, Walton, on October 6 last year.

But at 3.40pm on Wednesday, after nearly nine hours of deliberating, the foreman of the jury at the Old Bailey said they could not reach a majority verdict.

They were then discharged by Judge Timothy Pontis.

A new trial date will be fixed on April 9.
