Jon Macken believes Palace fans are starting to see the real him after his best game in a Palace shirt against Stoke City on Saturday.

By his own standards, Macken made a disappointing league debut against Luton Town on the opening day of the season and has struggled with injury since, culminating in him missing the visit of Plymouth..

But after an impressive performance on Saturday, the highlight being his neat back heel one-two with Andrew Johnson which led to the Palace opener, Macken feels he's starting to settle in nicely.

Macken said: "I think Palace fans are starting to see the real me, I just wish I got a goal.

"But it was a good performance to be honest, it was one that I personally wanted to do especially after the Luton game which was very disappointing and I think now we're on the up and you can see that by our last few performances. Hopefully there will be more of them to come."

Macken also highlighted importance of gaining the club's second win of the season before the international break, which puts the Eagles in a good postion before league fixtures resume next Saturday.

Macken said: "Yes definitely, we started off a little bit slow but we've seemed to have turned that round and hopefully we can just carry on the way we're going and push on.

"We're happy with the result but there are still things we believe as a team we can improve on as well. Such as the way we play the game and we believe we can create more chances. if we do that there will be occasions were we will really murder teams."

After a playing career based in the north, the former Machester City striker says he's adapting well life in South London and is looking forward to moving his young family into a house in the coming weeks after spending the last two months in a hotel.

But Macken has praised his teammates for enabling to settle in quicker and believes the team spirit at the club will ensure the Eagles go far this campaign.

Macken added: "They're all great lads and we seem to have a nice little group of lads here. "It's a long season, there's going to be times when we're down and we need help from our friends and its nice to know your friends are out on the pitch as well."
