Old Walcountians opened the 2005-06 rugby season by hosting the 16th Combined London Old Boys Cup.

Walcountians found themselves in a difficult pool with opponents Old Caterhamians (from Surrey League 1) and Old Alleynians (from Surrey League 2). But a Walcountians XV fielding eight new players took the game aggressively to Old Caterhamians, but neither team could find a breakthrough with the game ending 0-0.

Walcountians then took on Old Alleynians and won 10-7 thanks to tries from Alex Cook and Chris Mockford.

The hosts finshed runners-up in their pool having scored less tries than Old Caterhamians and had to meet the winner of the other pool, Eastbourne Stags, but lost 7-10, with Ollie Beales scoring their only try.

On Saturday, Walcountians warm up for the forthcoming Surrey Three League campaign with a friendly against Mitcham at Clock House (3pm).
