Last Saturday saw our three local sides in action in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.

But our sides suffered mixed fortunes, with only Croydon Athletic at present through to the next round.

The Athletic won their home tie at home to Sussex County League side Redhill 4-2, to earn a home tie against fellow Ryman Division One side Ramsgate.

The win means Athletic start the season with three straight wins. Athletic's goals were scored by Eben Allen, who grabbed a hat-trick, and Joe Sheerin goal.

Croydon FC must wait until Tuesday night to see if they are to progress to meet Sussex League side Horsham YMCA away in the next round, as they were held at home 1-1 by combined Counties League side Frimley Green 1-1 at Croydon Arena.

Whyteleafe's F.A Cup dreams are over as they were beaten away at Southern League outfit Ashford Town 3-1, which means the Leafe misses out on a money spinning away tie at AFC Wimbledon.

There was plenty of mid-week action as Croydon Athletic recorded their first home league win of the season beating new boys Walton Casuals 3-1. Eben Allen was among the goals scorers and Joe Sheerin got one in what was a very entertaining game.
