On a Saturday more suitable for sunbathing than playing football all our Ryman League clubs had mixed fortunes.

Croydon Athletic were at home to Hampshire coast outfit Lymington and New Milton and dominated the game for long periods.

The hosts nearly went in front when ex Croydon FC striker Eben Allen hit a post. This seemed a turning point for the visitors as shortly afterwards they took the lead when a mix up in the home defence allowed Lee Chudy to stroke the ball into an empty net.

The second half saw Athletic pressure for the equaliser which many thought would not come but in injury time up popped Joe Sheerin to fire home and maintain Athletic's unbeaten run to the start of the season.

Croydon FC played their first league Division Two home game against Brook House and drew 1-1.

The Trams took the lead just before half- time when Roy Freeman scored. The second half proved costly for the hosts as Brook House found the equaliser thanks to Dean Papali as the points were shared.

It's been a good week for Croydon FC as they won their midweek FA Cup replay at Frimley Green, which means they'll face a trip to Sussex league side Horsham YMCA.

Whyteleafe have had a torrid time of it with three defeats in a row and at Ramsgate on Saturday they might as well have stayed on the beach as they lost 5-1.

It was a second half blitz that finished the Leafe after Mark Hammond had given the visitors some hope at 2-1 but manager Stuart Massey must produce something to stem the rot.
